Federal - 634 Adelaide Avenue

This gorgeous Federal house, built in 1901, is typified by a very simple, elegant, unornamented structure, but detailed with a heavily ornamented entrance. Sporting an outsized, elegant, white columned semi-circular portico in the Ionic order, enclosing a very delicate second floor balcony with a wood balustrade . In reference to the balcony railing, a similar low rail of turned spindles graces the entire facade at ground level leading to the porches at both ends.

The low sloping hip roof with very narrow unadorned eaves carries three simple pedimented dormers. The facade of running bond and large single-paned double hung windows topped by simple stone lintels shows the elegant and intentional austerity.
