|Italian Villa - 927 Elk Street|
The high, asymmetrical and irregular massing of the Italian Villa Style superbly accents the tall full-height tower, here dressed out with balconies suggesting a widow’s walk.
Details in common with the Italianate Style are the single wide brackets supporting low pitched roofs with very wide overhanging eaves, and decorative head moldings over tall, narrow sash windows. A jutting bay beneath its own cantilevered pediment on the right echoes the broken pediment to the left of the tower.
The porch with square bevelled posts, smaller brackets and decorative embellishments and the tall corbelled brick chimneys give great authority to the design.
